As its CEO, and later board member, Bob was responsible for all facets of the business, leading to its sale to Enefco International. He later became Senior VP of Product & Brand Management for 1st Financial Bank USA and President of its 1FB.net subsidiary. Bob was VP of Engineering for Cybergold, where he helped lead that company to its $174 million IPO. Bob was inspired to invent the company’s patent-pending CarouSol concentrating PV technology while on an 18 month Pacific Ocean voyage. The technical challenges of living off the grid in a brutal ocean environment helped drive the efficiency and reliability of the GreenVolts technology design. Bob’s vision, leadership, and technical expertise are helping GreenVolts reach its mission to deliver the world’s lowest cost solar energy solution on a massive scale. SPEAKERS BIOGRAPHY BARTOLOMÉ GAMUNDI CESTERO, Eng. Secretary Department of Economic Development and Commerce Bartolomé Gamundi Cestero has a BA in Industrial Engineering from McGill University in Montreal and from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez campus. He also has a Masters degree in Business Administration from the Interamerican University in Puerto Rico. For the past 25 years, Gamundi performed as Sr. Vice-President of Manufacturing and General Manger of Electro-Biology, Inc., a company dedicated to manufacturing of Medical Equipment. He was responsible for the operations of manufacturing medical equipment for sports medicine at the Oklahoma and New Jersey plants. Gamundi knowledgeable in different fields and is an avid writer of business articles for the local newspapers, and for professional publications abroad. He was also a professor in the Graduate School of Business Management in the Interamerican University, in San Juan, Puerto Rico for several years. Plus, he was a frequent speaker at professional activities for the University and different institutions in a wide range of topics. He is also author of two books: “New Directions for Leaders and Organizational Future”, which was published in July 2000, and “The Knowledge Society, 10 Strategies to Transform the Business World”, developed from a new leadership model in an Economy Knowledge, published in 2007. In December 2007 he was appointed Secretary of the Department of Economic Development and Commerce of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico by the Governor, Hon. Anibal Acevedo Vila. JUAN ROURE Professor of Entrepreneurship and Negotiation Doctor of Philosophy Ph.D. (Engineering Management), Stanford University Master of Business Administration, ESADE Industrial Engineering, Polytechnic University of Cataluña ISP, Graduate School of Business Administration, Harvard University Dr. Juan Roure is Professor and Member of the International Advisory Board of IESE. Dr. Roure has been Visiting Professor at Stanford Business School, INSEAD, Harvard Business School, CEIBS (China) among others Schools. His current areas of interest include Private Equity, Growth and Change Management, Development of the entrepreneurial family firm and his governance. Dr. Roure is co-author of "The Venture Capital Cycle in Europe" and of "Good Governance in the Family Business" and has published several studies and books. Within the Center for Entrepreneurship and Family Business, he launched and leads the Business Angels Network, which has resulted in founding 15 companies in the last two years, and other initiatives such as the Venture Academy. Other activities include the organization jointly with Ernst & Young of the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Spain, The Deal of Year with EVCA and Real Deals, and he is cofounder and Member of the Board Europe's 500 Entrepreneurs for Growth. BRENDAN BOYLE Partner & co-Chief Creative Officer IDEO Brendan Boyle is a Partner and co-Chief Creative Officer at IDEAO, a leading design and innovation firm ranked independently as one of the most innovative companies in the world. Brendan's role also has a special emphasis on Entrepreneurship, both inside and outside the company. His focus is on creating intellectual property that IDEO develops, along with promoting entrepreneurial thinking and practices throughtout IDEO's eight global offices. He is also one of IDEO's spokesman: he is a highly requested public speaker, and has published articles on brainstorming and innovation in the workplace on ABCnews.com A passion for invention drives Brendan's additional responsabilities at IDEO; he co-founded and invention company called Skyline, which was acquired by IDEO. Under his leadership, IDEO has since licensed over 125 toy, game and consumer product concepts with leading manufacturers. In 2007, Cranium's "Sounds By the Seashore", designed by IDEO, was nominated for a Toy of the Year Award by the Toy Industry Foundation. In addition to his duties at IDEO, Brendan sits on the board of the non-profit National Institute for Play, where he focuses on bringing play-based techniques to innovation. He has also taught various classes in creativity and design at Stanford University as a Consulting Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Design Division. Currently, he teaches a class that he created in Stanford's new Desing School, called From Play to Innovation. Brendan holds an MS in the Joint Program for Design from Stanford University, as well as a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State. He worked for Goodyear upon graduation, where he develop a passion for fast cars. Brendan lives in Palo Alto with his wife and son.
